Poor Photography
Taken at the 2003 Grizzly Marathon in Montana
Close examination of the right ankle of the runner on the left will show a tattoo.  This is an image of the Aztec god HUITZILOPOCHTLI     (This image was also on the Age Group Award at the New Mexico Marathon.).   The runner on the right is wearing an ankle brace on the right foot because of a non-running accident.   Both runners are wearing their chips on the left ankle.  At a latter marathon it was learned that chip is worn on the left or right foot as a political statement.   Later another photo of this type was taken at the Delaware Marathon.
