Dear Family and Friends

This year was a lot like last year. Last year while driving on a two-lane road, an on-coming car suddenly turned in front of us. We were very thankful for airbags and seat belts. We were both shaken up and rode the ambulance to the emergency room without broken bones. Our car was totaled. One year and 4 days later the same thing happened. Only difference, Carol was not in the car, and Charles had a small fracture in his left trapezium. This required a cast for three weeks and a splint for three weeks.

Carol continues to teach in the Rainbow Room of St. Mark's Pre-School. The Rainbow Room is an enrichment room for 3 to 5 year old children. The room has three computers and a lop-eared rabbit named QT. The school is about 3 blocks from our apartment. Carol also teaches the Kindergarten Class of St. Mark's Sunday school.

For the last six months the Sunday school has been preparing to introduce the Catechist of the Good Shepard.

This has required Carol to attend Saturday workshops each month and to prepare the special materials needed for the program.

Pictures of some these are shown on in the link in the side bar or click on picture above.

Jackson continues to be the joy of our lives. Late almost every Saturday afternoon and evening we drive to Norco to visit his family. We take pictures, which Carol edits into a collage. These can be seen at the link in the side bar or click on picture above.

At the end of May Charles's contract in San Jose ended and he has not seriously looked for more work. He no longer commutes weekends between San Jose and Glendale. But he does travel

Last year he ran 12 marathons. This year he ran 21 marathons each in a different state. He is out to run a marathon in each of the 50 states. So far he has completed marathons in 31 states. He has used these travels to visit both brothers and his sister, a few friends. The most interesting marathons were the Pocatello Idaho Marathon, which he ran with his brother Edward. Their family moved from Pocatello a few weeks after Edward was born in 1944 and this was the first return since then. The other interesting marathon was the Mississippi Coast Marathon where Charles met his mother's 87-year old cousin, Bill Baker for the first time. A summary of the marathons run this year can be seen on our-web site at the link in the side bar or click on the picture above.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
